Today is National Drink Wine Day (how have I been unaware of this until now?); so where's the perfect ski area for that? I think it just might be Diamond Peak at Lake Tahoe. Why? Diamond Peak's "signature event" is their Last Tracks Wine Tasting, a really great event held in their Snowflake Lodge at mid-mountain. Every Saturday from 4pm until sunset (or 6 pm) guests taste the various wines while enjoying those famous Lake Tahoe views and sunset from up on the mountain. Sounds absolutely fabulous to me! Then, at sunset, you get the exclusive opportunity to ski down a freshly groomed trail as a perfect finish to your ski day. After that great time, and a short drive, you can arrive at today's Ski House of the Day, a luxury vacation home along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
The house is a 5 bedroom, 6+ bathroom luxury house tucked into an alpine forest area (actually bordering forest service land) in Incline Village. Spacious, comfortable, private, with features like a huge stone fireplace, wine fridge, nice hot tub out on the upper deck, a yoga room with ballet bar, a gas fireplace in the master suite, a Travertine stone steam shower with seating for 8 (below) and more, it's a beautiful ski house.
But here's the thing about this house on National Drink Wine Day...this ski house has its own 800- bottle wine cellar...complete with an inviting and intimate granite wine-tasting bar. That should do! Perfect for National Drink Wine Day. Cheers!
