Winning Condo on Picabo St.

Today is International Woman's Day...and one internationally renown woman that inspires me today is the American Olympic gold-medalist skier, Picabo Street.  She grew up near Sun Valley, Idaho, and her very early skiing experiences were those of trying to keep up with her father and brother...experiences that taught her a lot more than just ski skills.   Determination, perseverance, and resilience are just some of the lessons she can teach us all.  She once told ESPN that "you can put a roadblock in front of me and I'll either find a way around it, over it, under it, or plow right through it if I have to."

So, with Picabo Street as inspiration, the Ski House of the Day is a spacious condo (for sale) on Picabo St., in Ketchum, Idaho.
This 3-bedroom condo has a great location facing "Baldy" and is within walking distance to the slopes (how many hundred times do you think Picabo Street skied this slope?)...it's also right on the creek:

Inside there's a cozy fireplace, huge windows...and I can't help noticing the perfect artwork over the mantle:
The colorful western / ski theme is everywhere:

And last (but by far not least) is the inviting year-round outdoor heated pool with views of the slopes... outstanding!

The Ski House of the Day today has been chosen not only because it looks like a great place, but also because it's on Picabo St... named after skier, Picabo Street, whose message seems appropriate on this International Women's Day:

"I learned what all girls need to learn:  that you can fight to win, and you should never be ashamed of it.  Don't let anything slow you down."        Picabo Street

Idaho Ski Mansion

Today actor Bruce Willis celebrates his 57th birthday...and in honor of that occasion, The Ski House of the Day is his spectacular ski mansion in Sun Valley, Idaho:
This isn't your ordinary ski house: it sits on 20 acres of lakefront property

According to Business Insider and The Wall Street Journal a few months ago, Bruce Willis listed this mansion for sale for $15 million (with Sotheby's).  This ski house is 8,400 sq ft of luxury;  and the 20-acre lakefront estate also includes a huge pool, detached guest house, and gym.  I think it is absolutely gorgeous:
There's a huge stone fireplace in the living room

(Hey...what are those awards on the mantle?)...
Here's another, smaller fireplace, in view of the first

Even this cozy breakfast nook

There are six bedrooms and what do you know? This one has a fireplace too

There are six bathrooms; this one is gigantic

A shower with stone benches

These colors are a departure from most of this house's elegantly muted neutral decor, but the prayer flags are a welcome and familiar sight to many mountaineers and extreme skiers:
Did one of Bruce's kids hang these Buddhist prayer flags?

Tons of places to crash for après-ski time

You don't have to be a "Die Hard" skier to appreciate how fantastic this house is...and I have a "Sixth Sense" that this house will be a very special place for whomever ends up in it.

Hot Tub for 16 at Warm Springs

Today I went to a Hot Tub Show in a large Expo Center not far from home.  It was, well, rather disappointing.  It turned out to be nothing more than one manufacturer's temporary showroom, with an overabundance of salespeople and not much else.  (It was like diving into a tank where the sharks were circling before we even hit the water).  On the return drive my mind drifted back to some of the fantastic hot tubs there are at many ski houses.  Sometimes the ski house is all about the hot tub, as is true with this one.  The Ski House of the Day is this Warm Springs Ski Home with private hot tub. While this Sun Valley house has many nice features, and is only a few minutes from the Warm Springs lift, here's the real thing about this ski house...it has a hot tub for 16 people!

I think that's all I need to know about this ski house.

Sun Valley Luxury Home with Something for Everyone

If you've ever gone on a ski trip with a large group of friends or relatives, only to find that everyone has scattered in different directions to find activities they like, then take a look at this large luxury house near Sun Valley, Idaho.

It's a seven bedroom seven bathroom house that starts with the warmth of logs and a pleasing fireplace with western decor in the family room.....

Beautiful!  But the next thing you know...you discover it also has several more fireplaces, its own gym, game-room arcade, spa, and even its own private massage room (plus a pool, but that's for another season)!

What, are you kidding me?  Talk about "something for everyone".......

I usually prefer outdoor hot tubs, but this isn't your ordinary indoor hot tub...it's fantastic!

This house has so much going on that while you're out on the slopes, the non-skiers in your group will be here having just as much fun as you!  Because it really has something for everyone, this Northwood Luxury Estate is the pick for Ski House of the Day.
